15 Sep Are you feeling depleted?
We go go go. We talk about how we go go go. Or maybe we don’t talk about anything and we just go go go. As humans, as leaders the expectation from every angle can be too much sometimes. A little break, some levity, and some refueling can be huge. Sometimes we are do depleted the smallest amount of light or space can go a long distance. You fill up your car and you fill up your stomach, do you fill up your soul?
There is so much out there with social media. The more connected we get, though, the more distant we sometimes are. I would like to encourage you to look at The Global Leadership Summit. It is held by Willow Creek church near Chicago. It’s a huge church led by Bill Hybels. He is an amazing leader, and leader of leaders. His dream was to develop this Summit to help people get filled back up and be the best leader they can be. This year with all of the technology we have access to, the Summit was streamed to 120 different countries. In Cedar Falls, our own Orchard Hill Church is a host site. It’s a 2 day event each August. This is one event to get connected into because it gives you a pool of resources working toward the same goal. YOU. There is a Christian undertone for the motivation of the Summit but certainly is not the only thing or a main thing that gets talked about with these speakers. Ed Catmul from Pixar is one speaker. Jim Collins from the book, Good To Great, is one. So many more. GLSnext is an app you can get on your device to keep you connected with videos on different topics. If you don’t do Twitter maybe consider doing it just to get breaths of fresh air from GLS and Bill Hybels.
